Even though the single battery charges faster, it also provides a shorter battery duration. On the contrary, the double battery weighs more and has a longer charging time. However, the 16 Cell batteries are extremely suitable for long trips and vacations. The double battery is also compatible with the External Battery Charger.

Battery life

As mentioned above, the Inogen One G3 double battery has a much longer battery duration. More exactly, as a user, you can extend your mobility time for up to 8 hours of operation. However, the battery duration highly depends on the battery care and maintenance.

In order to reach the optimal battery life and performance, you will need to take special care of the batteries. Even though the standard components of the Inogen One System include the 8 Cell batteries, the same rules apply to the 16 Cell batteries.

The flow settings play a significant role in the battery duration. More exactly, when the device is used at lower flow settings, the battery life is extended. The reason for this is that the concentrator does not generate much heat and noise, consequently doesn’t draw much electric current from the power supplies. So, the system components don’t wear as quickly as usual.

Another important issue is the effect of temperature on battery performance. In order to achieve the maximum run-time of the battery, you should avoid temperatures less than 40 °F (4 °C) or higher than 95 °F (35 °C) for extended periods of time.

Battery Charging

Initially, the Inogen One G3 Batteries are shipped 40% to 100% charged. Even though the batteries can be immediately places and run on the device, Inogen recommends to fully charge them before operating. This way the user can provide the adequate running time. Unlike the older types of batteries, the newer ones don’t have a “memory”. Consequently, they can be partially charged or discharged without damaging the battery packs.

DC Power Cord

The Inogen DC Power Cord is extremely useful, both for charging the Inogen devices or Inogen batteries. The power cable is extremely lightweight and easy for transport.

What’s more, the DC power cord doesn’t require a wall power source and can be used in a car, on a boat or truck. As a user, all you have to do is find a suitable power source (any kind of electricity) and plug the cable.

The DC power cord is included in the Inogen One G3 Package. In addition to this,  the power cable can be used to charge the device while using it.

AC Power supply

Unlike the DC Power Cord, the AC Power Supply is less compatible. However, it is the most popular and used among users. The AC Power Supply is only compatible with conventional wall outlets. Due to this fact, G3 users usually plug it in to charge their devices while they are at home, taking care of other obligations or simply relaxing and watching TV.


Contrary to the DC power cord which is speeding the charging process (if you are simultaneously charging and using the device), the AC power supply is slowing down the process. External battery charger

Apart from the DC and AC power supplies, the Inogen One G3 double batteries are compatible with the external charger too. This is extremely useful if you have purchased more than one battery.

The external battery charger requires a convenient wall outlet but it works pretty simply. The most useful case is when the user is simultaneously charging two batteries. This way, you can save a lot of time. For instance, you can use the device and simultaneously charge other batteries with the external battery charger. Then switch the batteries and continue to use the device.

Battery Time Remaining Clock

The Inogen G3 16 Cell Batteries have a feature which is really useful for tracking the battery time remaining. Yet, it is important to note that the clock is showing the estimated time and the actual time may vary a little from this number.

Battery damage

In order to prevent any type of battery damage, it is highly important to never leave the batteries in the Inogen G3 device. Leaving the batteries in may result in inadvertent discharge. On a long-term basis, this issue may shorten the expected life of the battery. A full battery may be damaged in only a 20-day period.
