        • 4.25 mph top speed
          • Large, plastic carry basket

              Disassembles into 5 pieces
                • 85 pounds total weight

Unlike the regular Spitfire Scout 3-wheel scooter that has a maximum charge range of 9 miles, the extended range model can give you up to 15 miles of mileage. While its mileage advantage is definitely one of its highlights, this scooter comes with other great features to boot.

                  Portable and lightweight

Although the Spitfire Scout 3 only has a total weight of 85 pounds, it is designed to provide the same functionality as the average mobility scooter. One of the advantages of this scooter is its portability, as its heaviest piece is only 29 pounds.

The overall dimension of the scooter is 42.5 inches L x 20.5 inches W so traveling in tight spaces won’t be a problem. You can also easily disassemble it into 5 easy-to-carry pieces that can fit well in your car, van, or truck. The backrest can also be folded down for easy loading.

                  Safe and secure

                  Anti-tip wheels

Spitfire is equipped with anti-tip wheels to prevent you from falling over when traveling in slopes and sharp turns.

                  Freewheel mode

The scooter has freewheel levers that you can engage or disengage manually when you want to.

                  • The freewheel or “disengaged” mode allows you to use the scooter without using power by unlocking the gearbox.
                  • The drive or “engaged” mode locks the gearbox and prevents the scooter from rolling freely.

As a safety measure, do not attempt to disengage or put the scooter in freewheel mode when driving up an inclined road as you might experience uncontrollable movements.

If you release the throttle, the scooter will come to a complete stop. It’s also equipped with two types of braking systems:

                  • Regenerative brakes. Once you return the throttle to the center position, the scooter will automatically decelerate.
                  • Park brakes. Once the scooter is at a complete stop, the wheels are automatically locked in place.

                  Safety belt (Optional)

Safety belts aren’t only available for cars. You can also use them for your mobility scooter. You can request one as an additional safety feature when you order yours. If you are not sure whether you need one, you can consult your healthcare provider or an authorized Drive Medical provider.

                  Diagnostic light

The scooter’s control panel has a battery indicator, a diagnostic light, a speed dial, and a horn button.

It is normal to encounter technical problems when operating a mobility scooter. Instead of making guesses, Drive Medical made it easier to diagnose and troubleshoot common problems through the diagnostic light, which flashes codes that correspond to common technical problems.

                  Battery indicator

Afraid that you might get stuck somewhere with a discharged scooter? Drive Medical has a remedy to that. With the battery indicator, you’d never have to second guess your battery usage again. Simply look at the color of the battery indicator to determine how much longer you can still go:

                  • Red light means that the battery needs immediate charging.
                  • Orange light tells you to avoid long trips without a power source.
                  • Green light means that your battery is full.

The best thing is, with the Extended Range version of the Spitfire Scout 3, you can use your scooter for a maximum of 15 miles. That’s 6 miles longer than the Spitfire Scout 3 with 12AH batteries.

The horn can be used as a safety and security feature. When traveling, most especially in crowded places, pressing it will alert people of your presence. You can also use it to get attention when calling for help.

                  High capacity and functionality

                  Weight capacity

The scooter can carry a maximum weight of 300 pounds.

                  Travel range

It is designed for on-the-go people who want scooters with more mileage. It can cover a maximum range of 15 miles with full 20 AH batteries and can run for up to 4.25 mph maximum speed.

If with full batteries, you can enjoy a longer running time and running distance without the need to charge the batteries any sooner. However, you shouldn’t forget to take the warning from the battery indicator if the scooter already needs charging.

                  Outdoor usage

Having to deal with flat tires can be bothersome, most especially if you are in the middle of a busy day. Conveniently, this scooter’s 8” x 2” wheels are flat-free, both the rear and the front!

Although designed for indoor use, you can also use the Scout 3 to travel on even and level outdoor pavements. Climbing the ramp is also a breeze, as it can climb 6-degree angle slopes. It also has a 45-degree turning angle for easy navigation.

As a safety reminder, Drive Medical discourages the use of the scooter on loose gravel, uneven terrain, soft and wet surfaces, and tall grass.

                  Comfortable and practical

Remember that you’d be using your scooter to get from point A to point B as you go about your daily routines. That’s why comfort should come next to safety when choosing a mobility scooter. Aside from an extended footboard, the Spitfire Scout 3 also has the following features:

                  Delta Tiller

The scooter is equipped with a Delta Tiller feature so it is comfortable and easy to control. The delta tiller allows for one-hand operation and can be easily controlled by both left and right-handed people. You can adjust the tiller to your desired height and angle so you won’t need to extend your arms too much to reach the Tiller. It is also adequately padded to prevent wrist strain.

                  Carry basket

The scooter comes with a large, plastic carry basket that you can attach in front of the tiller to house your personal items and necessities. If you need more storage space, you can always accessorize your mobility scooter with a cup holder, a rear basket, a backpack, and many more.

                  Armrests, seat, and backrest

The scooter’s padded armrests can be flipped up for easy mounting and dismounting. It can also be adjusted sideways to better fit the user.

The comfortable seat can swivel for up to 180 degrees and has three height selections to choose from so it can accommodate patients of any height and size.

Aside from its foldable feature, the backrest is also ergonomically curved to reduce back strain.

                  Interchangeable shrouds

The Spitfire Scout 3 is installed with red shrouds by default. You can simply change it with the spare set of blue shrouds that comes with the unit. Changing the shrouds doesn’t need any special tool. You can do it using your hands or a small pry tool.

                  Easy charging

The charging terminal is located in the battery pack itself and is easy to locate. To charge your scooter, simply insert the charger in the terminal and plug the other end into an electrical outlet.

When the light indicator in the charger turns red or orange, it means that the unit is charging. If it turns green, it means that the battery is already fully charged.

In compliance with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards, the scooter only uses sealed Lead acid AGM or gel-cell batteries. These batteries are free from leakage and spillage so you can load it on an aircraft and other public transports safely and hassle-free.

The Spitfire Scout 3-Wheel Extended Range is designed to provide you with 15 miles mileage. However, to enjoy the maximum travel range, it’s best to avoid inclines, limit your baggage, and maintain a constant speed. Otherwise, your mileage might be reduced.
