The ultimate idea when creating ZooMe Flex was to design a product which is easy to operate and transport, yet provides incredible safety for every user. Considering that this product is suitable for a wide range of audience, Drive Medical has included some adjustable features, such as the tiller and the armrest.
To increase security, even more, the company has designed the tires to be flat-free and anti-tip. In addition to this, the brakes are electromagnetic, and in combination with the simplistic throttle of the ZooMe, about any individual with no past experience could operate the system and feel safe in the hands of this scooter.
With a 24V x 120W and 25.9V x 10AH Lithium batteries, the ZooMe Flex provides a maximum speed of 4mph and an estimated range of 13 miles. Furthermore, the total weight of the scooter is 58.6 pounds, yet the product has a weight capacity of 275 pounds. Apart from these features, the ZooMe Flex offers many different benefits. So, let’s take a glimpse into a more detailed summary of its features.
Compatible and lightweight
Due to its wide range of audience, Drive Medical has designed the ZooMe Flex in order to be adjustable for almost any customer’s needs. For example:
Adjustable Tiller Angle
It is much better when a driver is comfortable in his/her driving. For that cause, the tiller can be transformed into a suitable position by adjusting the angle of positioning.
When it comes to transportation, the ZooMe Flex is one of the smoothest vehicles to be moved. Its dimensions are 37" (L) x 18" (W) x 36" (H), with a total weight of just 58.6 pounds. Furthermore, the adjustable parts of the ZooMe Flex can be removed (or highly secured) during transport. The design of ZooMe Flex is followed by an auto-folding seat, fold down back and adjustable armrest. No matter where you are traveling to, don’t overthink if you should fit the scooter into the back of your van or car – you can now do it without hesitation. However, make sure you secure it while storing it.
Safe and secure
When it comes to safety, there are several features which complete the design of ZooMe Flex.
Flat-free, anti-tip wheels
In order to provide a secure drive, the ZooMe Flex consists of 2 x 5 inches anti-tip wheels and flat-free, non-marking tires. The dimensions of the front wheels are 6 x 1.5 inches, and the ones of the rear wheels are 7 x 2.35 inches.
Brakes and stopping
In order to slow down or completely stop, you just need to release the throttle. The ZooMe Flex has a quite different throttle than multiple other scooters, which makes it one of the easiest devices to be controlled. The brake system consists of 2 types of brakes: regenerative and park brakes. The main difference between these two electromagnetic brakes is the cause of use. The regenerative brakes are used when you want to decelerate the vehicle, while the park brakes are used to completely stop – which locks the drive wheels.
The safety belt is an optional feature, which may or may not be included with ZooMe Flex. In order to determine if you need a positioning belt or not, you may contact a health care profession, an assistive technology therapist, or, your authorized Drive Medical Provider.
The weight capacity of the ZooMe Flex is 275 pounds. It is highly recommendable to never exceed this capacity – which includes both the user and any accessorize.
To ensure full battery use, you must fully charge your scooter once you change your batteries. Furthermore, the battery life of each ZooMe Flex highly depends on your battery charging habits. If you have purchased the Scooter for a daily use, make sure you plug it in and charge it once you finish with your daily activities. Even if you are rarely using the Scooter and you have no need to plug it in often, you need to charge the batteries at least once in a week for 10-14 hours in order to keep the batteries in life.
In order to expand your battery range, you may try to avoid inclines, which highly drain your batteries and limit your accessories and baggage in order to make it easier for the ZooMe Flex. Moreover, maintaining a constant, even speed increases the duration of your battery life.
Charging the ZooMe Flex (Offboard Charger 2A)
In order to charge the ZooMe Flex, the Scooter needs to be in an engaged freewheel mode and with a turned off power. You need to plug the charger into the scooter and connect it to the electrical outlet. In order to determine when to unplug your Scooter, you can simply look at the light indicators on the charger.
More exactly, there are 3 light indicators: red, orange and green. The red color indicates that your battery is completely drained, and you must plug your Scooter as soon as possible. The orange one indicates that the Scooter is suitable for short-term trips only. And the green color shows up when you have completely charged your ZooMe Flex.
