What is ResMed Mobi Portable Oxygen Concentrator?

The ResMed Mobi Portable Oxygen Concentrator is a compact, lightweight, and high quality portable oxygen concentrator suitable for patients who suffer from COPD, sleep apnea, and other respiratory complications. It provides excellent pulse wave oxygen therapy with its long battery life and sleek design.

ResMed Mobi is user-friendly because it is easy to understand and operate. It has many power and battery options and other beneficial features that do not cause pain to your pockets. It ensures that you get an adequate dose of oxygen anytime and anywhere.

How Does ResMed Mobi Portable Oxygen Concentrator Work?

ResMed Mobi is best for a low-flow pulse oxygen therapy. It usually draws room air through an electrically powered compressor. The obtained air passes through a molecular sieve.

Once the air reaches the sieve, the nitrogen will separate from the air, increasing the oxygen content. The oxygen will then get delivered to the patient through a nasal cannula.

If you wish to know how to use the device, follow the steps below.

  • Attach your nasal cannula to the device's oxygen port
  • Press and hold the device's power button to turn the device on
  • Select the prescribed pulse flow setting
  • Put on the nasal cannula comfortably and breathe normally
  • Check if the display screen shows the Pulse-Wave breath detection symbol
  • ResMed Mobi Portable Oxygen Concentrator Features

ResMed Mobi is one of the recent additions to ResMed's award-winning oxygen concentrators. We have listed Mobi's features below to explain its product details further.

    Design

Who would have thought that undergoing oxygen therapy could still look stylish? ResMed designed ResMed Mobi to be compact and casual-looking. Its sleek style does not sacrifice its excellent function.

The device has a neutral color and sophisticated design, matching any outfit and occasion. Its carrying bag also conceals the nasal cannula for a more comfortable and better appearance.

    Size and Weight

ResMed Mobi has an average weight of 5.5 pounds or 2.49 kilograms. On the other hand, Mobi has a dimension of 7.95" x 9.60" x 4.49". It may not be the lightest and smallest portable oxygen concentrator in the marketplace, but it is suitable for most outdoor users.

    Portability

ResMed Mobi does not lose when discussing portability. This portable oxygen concentrator is easy to carry because it is lightweight and compact. Fear not about traveling, walking, working out, and going outdoors because its carrying bag has comfortable and supportive shoulder straps.

This device also supports Pulse-Wave Technology. It allows the system to adjust to the patient's natural breathing at any activity level. It ensures that you can get the correct dose of oxygen even outdoors.

    LCD Screen

ResMed Mobi has several alarms to require your attention and action whenever something happens. It usually gives out a repeating audible tone. Moreover, it lights up the yellow alarm indicator in the control panel.

Mobi also shows an alarm message in the message field. These alarms can be the following:

    Battery

ResMed Mobi has both internal and external batteries. Its external battery is optional, but we recommend using one to extend your device's battery life.

Mobi's internal battery is rechargeable. However, it can get discharged even when you are not using it for a long time. Once you use the internal battery, a Running Internal or INT battery bar will appear on the display screen.

On the other hand, the external battery connects directly to the device's external battery port. The display screen will show a Running External or EXT battery bar when using it.

    Battery Life

ResMed Mobi's battery life varies according to the battery used and pulse dose setting. You can check these details written below.

    Internal battery

    • Setting 1 – 8.6 hours
    • Setting 2 – 6 hours
    • Setting 3 – 3.8 hours
    • Setting 4 – 3.2 hours

    External battery

    • Setting 1 – 4.5 hours
    • Setting 2 – 3.0 hours
    • Setting 3 – 1.9 hours
    • Setting 4 – 1.6 hours

Adding the time above, you can use your ResMed Mobi for around 4.8 to 13.1 hours.

    Charging Time

Charging your internal and external batteries can take a few to many hours. For instance, the internal battery takes 6.1 hours when operating and 3.6 hours when not in use. Meanwhile, the external battery takes 3.1 hours when functioning and 1.8 hours otherwise.

    Power Sources

ResMed Mobi can support both DC and AC power supplies. Both power sources can charge and power the internal and external batteries.

A DC power supply is only usable in vehicles like cars, motor homes, or boats. However, some vehicles cannot operate and charge your POC simultaneously. You will need at least 10 amps at 12VDC to do so.

Remember that you cannot use any unauthorized AC and DC power sources. These supplies may damage the device and void all warranties.

    Power Consumption

ResMed Mobi does not consume too much power and electricity. You only need to charge or power its AC power supply in a 100-240 VAC, 2.0-1.0 A, 50-60 Hz power outlet. On the other hand, its DC power supply only needs a 12VDC power outlet.

    Flow Type

Unluckily, ResMed Mobi only supports pulse flow settings. It only delivers oxygen when the patient inhales.

It does not produce continuous oxygen delivery regardless of the breathing pattern. In this case, you cannot use it for CPAP or BiPAP purposes.

    Sieve Beds

Sieve beds are usually for filtering the air that comes inside the oxygen concentrator. It uses a Zeolite material that separates the nitrogen from the obtained air. Fortunately, ResMed Mobi has an efficacious sieve bed with a year warranty.

    Warm-Up Time

ResMed Mobi has an average warm-up time of 5 minutes. You will need to wait a few minutes before it starts to operate.

    Oxygen Concentration

Oxygen concentration is not a problem because ResMed Mobi has 90%. It also has an accuracy of -3/+6%.

    Capacity

Unfortunately, ResMed failed to indicate ResMed Mobi's specific capacity in LPM. It only stated that this device has a pulse flow setting of 1 to 4.

    Filters

ResMed Mobi has a high-quality and easy-to-replace filter. Its filters contain two-layered, powder-bonded, and polyester non-woven fibers. Moreover, it can be standard or hypoallergenic for allergic people.

    Available Accessories

Purchasing a ResMed Mobi can come with different accessories. However, you will need to buy some of these separately. These accessories are as follows:

    • Mounting straps
    • Carrying bag
    • Backpack
    • Extra AC charger
    • Extra DC power supply
    • External battery

We have not found any other international approvals for ResMed Mobi. Still and all, you may find symbols in the device, such as the European Authorized Representative and Canadian Standards Association. Also, this device received an A- rating from Better Business Bureau (BBB).

    Altitude

You may use the ResMed Mobi portable oxygen concentrator up to 10,000 ft or 3,048 meters above sea level. Expect that the performance may degrade at higher altitudes.

ResMed Pty Ltd offers a 5-year warranty for ResMed Mobi. Its accessories, such as the sieve beds and batteries, have a year warranty. ResMed does not cover any damages due to modification, alteration, abuse, improper use, unauthorized repairs, and smoking causes.
